A sequel to Super Mario Strikers is coming to the Nintendo Wii. Mario Strikers: Charged is a five-a-side soccer game with players possessing acrobatic skills and super abilities.

We're talking Mario not Beckham or Shevchenko, so there are no fouls and players can attack each other with a variety of weapons. Demonstrations of super powers include Mario growing to giant size and Princess Peach freezing the opposition.

Judging by screen shots and a video clip that have been posted online, the whole thing has the fun and craziness you'd expect from a Mario game.

The Wii remote and nunchuk are used in the game, including the remote's motion-sensing capability. One, two and four-player games are possible, and online matches will be supported via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

A midyear release is expected in most markets, and it looks like the UK will lead the way with a May 25 kick-off.{moscomment}
