LE1700s sold in the US will feature onboard EV-DO connectivity. Partnerships with carriers will be announced following certification. In Australia, the tablet is sold in a 3G configuration and users simply need to plug in a SIM associated with a data-enabled account from any of the carriers. Bluetooth, WiFi (802.11a/b/g) and Gigabit Ethernet are all standard features. One LE1700 variant includes a WriteTouch display, providing automatic switching between digitiser pen and touch-screen operation. "N-trig's native dual mode technology for pen and capacitive touch enables the LE1700 to set a new and superior standard for tablet usability and natural input," said Amihai BenDavid, CEO of N-trig. "This new technology expands the horizon for mobile computing where even the most experienced tablet users will find a dramatic change in how they interface with their system." Other features include Windows Vista, an SXGA+ (1400 by 1050 pixel) display, a fingerprint reader that doubles as a touchpad, remote data delete in case of loss or theft, 1G of RAM (expandable to 4G), a 30 or 60G hard drive (with accelerometer for shock protection), a multidirectional array microphone, SD and PC Card slots, and a Trusted Platform Module. Claimed battery life is around three hours, or six to seven hours with the optional second battery that attaches to the back of the LE1700. Prices start at $US1999.{moscomment} |
