US carrier AT&T and online music provider Napster have struck a bundling agreement which will enable AT&T customers get a one year of "free" subscription to Napster's online library of 3 million music tracks. However, the music subscription is only free in the sense that mobile phones are free with wireless carriage plans.
From April 1, the service, called Napster To Go, will enable consumers to customize playlists on their PC and transfer tunes to compatible wireless phones and music devices.
Napster charges US$14.95 a month for an unlimited download subscription, so AT&T, which is tying the download service to a two year wireless plan, is touting Napster To Go as $180 of value.
The offer is available to new or existing AT&T wireless customers within and outside of the AT&T local service territory who agree to a two-year wireless agreement with purchase of the SYNC phone by Samsung or the BlackJack phone by Samsung with qualifying data plan plus a Music Kit/Card.{moscomment}
