The Apple TV will be available next week from the Apple Store and authorised resellers, Apple Australia announced today. This is a few days behind North America, as we previously reported.
It's not that Australia is particularly distant from the Asian factories that produce most Apple products, so presumably it's just a question of priorities and perhaps domestic logistics.
According to Apple, Australian users can pick from over 3 million songs, 2000 music videos, 100,000 podcasts and 16,000 audiobooks at the iTunes Store. But apart from the eight Pixar shorts, there are still no movies.
iTunes 7.1 provides support for the Apple TV, and observant users noted that its parental controls included Australian classifications - but there's no other sign that movies or episodes of TV shows will be available from the Apple Store in the near future.{moscomment}
