Reports from the US and UK say deliveries of the Apple TV have begun, and should start reaching buyers by Friday 23 March.

For those yet to place an order, the US and Canadian Apple Stores quote 3-5 business day delivery, the UK store says 5 days, while Australians are told they will have to wait for 5-7 business days.

The $US299/$C349/£199/$A449 device connects to a widescreen TV (enhanced definition or high definition) for playback of content stored in iTunes on a Mac or PC. Its 40G hard drive can hold up to 50 hours of video, allowing smooth playback regardless of network load.

Movies and episodes of popular TV shows are available for purchase by iTunes Store customers in the US, but not in Canada, the UK or Australia.{moscomment}
