Microsoft has still sold the most next-gen games consoles worldwide, with well over 10.5 million consoles in the market, while Sony is still yet to launch the PS3 in ‘the rest of the world’ with plenty more PS3 sales yet to come, despite the Wii and Xbox 360.

So there is no clear winner as yet in the games console race, and still no real reason why all three games consoles cannot enjoy healthy sales and strong software support, despite people always wanting there to be ‘one’ winner.

Nintendo has shown the world that it understands fun, and has brought that fun to millions of people around the world, with millions more still to come, and can do it without high-definition graphics of the most detailed kind.

The big challenge will be to see if Nintendo can take full advantage of the strong momentum they have created. Content and playability is king, and for now, Nintendo can lay a very strong claim to the crown. Whether they will still be wearing that crown in 12 to 24 months and beyond is the $64 wii-llion dollar question!
