Networking improvements involve Xsan volume handling, Active Directory, and Wi-Fi (AirPort). Apple has also updated the security certificates in Mac OS X.

Third-party applications with issues addressed by the update include Lego Star Wars, InDesign, H&R Block TaxCut, World of Warcraft and Microsoft Word.

Apple's own Aperture photography app benefits from RAW support for additional Leaf, Leica, Nikon, Pentax, Panasonic and Samsung cameras; improved spot and patch results; and the preservation of GPS metadata during export.

Those still using Classic may benefit from improved printing, improved USB device support and a fix for an issue with the iMac G5's built-in iSight camera.

10.4.9 also incorporates the Daylight Savings Time Update released last month.

The updates are available via Software Update or Apple's web site.

What's the story about security?
