According to Colebrook: " What we are offering is the ability for the owner of a .tel domain name to centralise all contact information now and in the future within the DNS. That can include URLs, email addresses, Skype IDs, mobile phone numbers, etc. Anyone accessing the .tel domain will be presented with that contact information."

Domain name owners will be able to update their .tel details from any web browser and will be able to restrict access. "You could select how much of that information is seen by a particular person and how much is public. You would be able to give out passwords that would give people access to the full information," Colebrook said.

Telnic is also working on a facility for companies to present hierarchies of information for example, visitors might be able to select European or Asia Pacific contact details. There is also the possibility of the system automatically presenting region specific contact details according to the IP address of the visitor. "That is something we are still considering but there are potential technical complication," Colebrook said.

Telnic announced in January that it had that it had selected NeuStar. (NYSE: NSR), a provider of clearinghouse and directory services to the global communications and Internet industry, to operate the domain name registry and DNS resolution systems for .tel.{moscomment}
