For fans of the table-top miniature game, as well as Dawn of War computer games, the news that THQ and Games Workshop could be creating a Massive Multiplayer Online game set in the Warhammer 40K universe could be pants wetting.

For fans of the table-top miniature game, as well as Dawn of War computer games, the news that THQ and Games Workshop could be creating a Massive Multiplayer Online game set in the Warhammer 40K universe could be pants wetting.

Gamespot is running an interview with games publisher THQ’s Kelly Flock, executive vice president of worldwide publishing and long time Games Workshop’ite Andy Jones, now head of group legal and licensing with the game company.

The majority of the discussion centres on the Warhammer 40,000 licensing between the predominately miniature gaming rules publisher and the computer game developer/publisher..

The latest game based in this universe is the hugely popular Dawn of War franchise.  Set in the war torn 41st millennium, Dawn of War runs as a reasonably paced RTS with many races of the Warhammer 40K represented in fine detail.

Do not confuse this with the Warhammer fantasy world.  Electronic Arts are looking to publish Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning towards the end of the year. Set in Games Workshops sword and sorcery Warhammer world, it already has fan-boys everywhere readying themselves for the brutal up-close battles that will ensue.
