With the launch of MobileMe set for early July, Apple is wasting no time in transitioning .Mac users to me.com email addresses. The shift has started, with some .Mac users reporting their new addresses are already active.

The introduction of Office 2007 brought a wave of document compatibility issues for users of Office 2004, but Microsoft has at last delivered a non-beta version of its Open XML File Format Converter for Mac. And while ODF support has been promised for Office 2007 SP2, there's no sign of it for Office 2008.

A new Trojan targeting Mac OS X poses a drive-by download threat to users, according to a senior manager at security vendor Symantec. Two new Trojans that could compromise the security of Mac OS X were reported yesterday and more information on one of them has come to light.

Mac users beware: a dastardly duo of Trojans is seeking to suck secrets from your computers, and both have been spotted in the wild. With a little help from an incautious user both Trojans are capable of getting around the Mac's defences and executing code with administrator or root privileges.

The new features introduced by Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard generally went down well with the Mac users I know, but a significant minority were irritated when they discovered Apple had hobbled its ability to work with mobile phones. Fortunately a European developer has come to the rescue!

the top 10 of the top 500 supercomputers in the world, but Microsoft
has surprisingly scraped in at number 23 with its Windows HPC Server
