iTWire has received more news from concerned eBay users about eBay’s portrayal of PayPal as the “safest” way to transact on the auction site, writing to their banks to see if they believe that Direct Deposit is no longer a safe way to transact.

From unauthorised reviews to authorised ones, the iPhone 3G will come tomorrow but the reviews have already arrived. For anyone that has been following the iPhone and the iPhone 3G for some time now, you’ll learn little that is truly new, but there are still some mini surprises.

With the Xbox 360 getting nice price cuts, and the Wii still competitively priced, the pricey PS3 looms large as the most expensive console with games and graphics that aren’t all that different from the Xbox 360. E3 is the moment Sony should grab hold of with both hands to slice the PS3’s price!

Telstra has announced which of its stores across Australia will carry the iPhone 3G from July 11, from many capital cities to rural and regional areas, but additional details on data inclusions like won’t come until Friday itself.

Looks like the ACCC still has eBay well under its investigative sights despite not officially saying anything since eBay withdrew its notice to force buyers to use PayPal while claiming to have received ACCC authorisation to continue compelling sellers to use PayPal whether they want to or not!

More than 100 new words have been added to the “Merrian-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary” for 2008, and the list includes a few well known tech terms, with one stretching back to 1919! In addition the word “mondegreen” is added to the list.

It’s all systems go for the iPhone 3G on July 11 in 22 countries around the world, with people already in line in the US, while Optus, Vodafone and Telstra in Australia all have special iPhone events planned. Meanwhile, does officially released – and surprisingly high - Vodafone NZ pricing effectively show us what Vodafone plans on charging in Australia?

Although said to arrive on Wednesday, for many the PS3 2.41 firmware update became available on Tuesday, wiping out the frustration of waiting for a pulled 2.40 update that had caused some users to experience the pain of a “bricked” PS3.

Long known for making 1-inch, 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives, if not larger too, Toshiba has finally decided it will sell its own drives to the public instead of packaged inside someone else’s product. In addition, it’s bundling automated backup software to make backup... easy!

Pioneer has unveiled a 16-layer read-only optical disc, seemingly based on Blu-ray technology, with each layer holding 25GB for a whopping 400GB total. Promising recordable discs to come, how soon before today’s Blu-ray discs are tomorrow’s vinyl records?

Looks like Microsoft is willing to talk turkey about buying part of all of Yahoo once more, but there’s a catch – Yahoo must elect a new board, with Carl Icahn threatening to dump Chief Yahoo Jerry Yang should it happen!
