If you’re a guy that uses a mobile phone, the latest research suggests that using a mobile phone could be bad for sperm health, although the study in question used a machine that created the same sort of radiation for 16 hours straight on sperm for damage to appear.

Oops... Britney Spears has done it again, thrusting herself into the limelight with a new website that has garnered over a million hits in 24 hours, taking on the social networking world with an all out “friend” assault and tweeting like a song bird on the messaging website Twitter.

Although iPrimus and Virgin offer shaped broadband on their mobile broadband plans, with Telstra only now offering the same feature on its 5GB and 10GB plans, how soon will it be before shaped wireless plans are the norm for all users?

 
New MacBook rumour: it’s got hardware video decoding E-mail

MacRumors is suggesting the new NVIDIA powered MacBook and MacBook Pro models have received hardware decoding of H.264 video, not available on the previous versions even though their respective cards had hardware decoding capabilities, but Apple isn’t confirming.

 
World’s thinnest LCD screen now 7.9mm, from Samsung E-mail

Thin is in, with prototype LCD TV screens already thinner than the 2nd-generation iPod Touch, and Samsung has just done 0.1mm better than LG Philips’ previous record of 8mm. No word yet on when it will go commercial, but we do know the trick they’ve used to go go gadget thin...

 
Ballmer’s buzz on Windows 7 E-mail

Speaking at the final keynote of Gartner’s “Symposium ITxpo” in the US, Ballmer explained Microsoft’s stance on Windows 7, saying it’s “Vista but a lot better”, yet insisting Windows 7 is a major OS revision, and not a minor one, while criticising Google Apps. Oh, and yeah, it’s ok to wait if you want.

Dubbed by Asus as “the supermodel of netbooks”, the S101 Eee PC is now on sale at “select retailers” in Australia, but while its size is positivelEee ultra trim, it’s a shame the $999 price isn’t also on a diet, although you can't expect Asus to give the S101 away for frEee!

 
New 17-inch MacBook Pro due next year, not by Macworld? E-mail

An online report suggests the reason why the 17-inch MacBook Pro (MBP) didn't get the swish new aluminium cases of the new 13-inch MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pro was because of issues in "ramping up production", thus "delaying them by a few months". In short, if you want to upgrade your existing 17-inch MBP, why bother doing it now?

 
Sony Ericsson releases world’s first AM/FM radio in mobile phone E-mail

Well, I almost can’t believe it – finally someone has figured out how to put an AM radio, and not just an FM radio, into a mobile phone, something that I’ve wanted for years. While SE’s “R306” does the job with a couple of nifty enhancements, it’s a pity the R306 is a basic, low-end 2G model rather than the latest 8 megapixel 3.5G Cybershot, but this also means it’s cheap, cheerful and does the job.
