Resident Evil 5 Review: Hey! Why change the formula?
by Mike Bantick
Sunday, 29 March 2009
Resident Evil 4 was a critically acclaimed, and high selling cross platform title for Capcom.  With RE5, the developer has chosen not to fiddle with the winning formula much at all.  Yes there is a new setting and some modern touches, but the RE structure remains.  And it is not for everyone.

by Mike Bantick
Thursday, 26 March 2009
Roll Up!  Roll Up!  Come and witness the freak-show that defies logic.  How could RockStar Games cram a Liberty City experience into the Nintendo DS.  Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, that’s how.

OnLive gaming service was officially soft launched yesterday.  Promising platform independence and instant access to AAA gaming titles as well as doing away with the need to keep your hardware up to date, OnLive plan to usher in a new gaming era.  But despite the FAQ, there are a few more questions we would like answered.

by Mike Bantick

by Mike Bantick
Sunday, 22 March 2009
Looking through my library of Wii games, they are a smattering of G and PG rated titles.  Now there is a MA 15+ game that grabs the Wii audience by the Nunchucks and hurls copious buckets of blood at them.  Time to enter MadWorld.

Maybe Atkinson is right about R18+ games
by Mike Bantick
Monday, 16 March 2009
South Australian Attorney-General Michael Atkinson is a fan of keeping the ban on violent video games.  He is the most vocal of the Attorneys-General in attempting to maintain the lack of an R18+ classification for interactive entertainment in Australia.  Perhaps he has a point.

Dawn of War II Review – Its 1987 again
by Mike Bantick
Saturday, 14 March 2009
Oh! I see what you are doing Games Workshop and Relic.  In creating Dawn of War II, you want me to get all nostalgic, dust off my miniatures and play Warhammer 40K again.  Dawn of War II is not Dawn of War, in fact it is not an RTS at all, instead it is an exercise in reminiscing about miniature battles of old.

Real Time Strategy on the console – can it be done?
by Mike Bantick
Tuesday, 03 March 2009
So here I am playing through Halo Wars on the Xbox 360 and Dawn of War II on PC.  Games not dissimilar in theme, but different in how they play.  Many said a first person shooter could not be done without the accuracy of keyboard and mouse, but can real time strategy also find comfort on a console platform?

by Mike Bantick
Monday, 02 March 2009
Real Time Strategy as a console exclusive?  Was it such a good idea to take the Halo brand, make it a game of controlling little Master Chiefs and then put it on a console?  Can the swan-song from the creators of Age of Empires live up to the studios legacy?  Halo Wars steps out from the first person shooter shadows.

The seventh platform for video gaming
by Mike Bantick
Wednesday, 25 February 2009
Digital Distribution of software is obviously here to stay; but only in recent times has the world of mobile gaming got a DD shot in the arm with services such as the iTunes Apps Store and the Nokia N-gage game software system.  With the iPhone and other powerful handsets hitting the market, any wonder then that game developers are seeing the seventh platform as a lucrative venture?
