Resistance 2 rears its ugly head at eGames Expo 08

This years eGames Expo will see rival heavy weights of the serious sci-fi grit category go head to ugly head.  Sony bring Resistance 2 for the PS3, while Microsoft break out Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360.  Is it more than one show can contain?  Well there looks like there will be plenty of other new gaming candy to taste, along with a disappointing no-show or two.

 
Blizzard look to milk fans via battle.net

In the shadow of expectation around Diablo 3 and StarCraft II, a discussion panel at BlizzCon 08 has revealed plans by Blizzard to start charging money for battle.net.  The long-time multiplayer network is preparing for more action and Blizzard may well be feeling the need for greed.

Silent Hill banning, now we play the ‘waiting game’

The latest incarnation of the popular horror survival game Silent Hill: Homecoming has been refused classification in Australia.  In effect the game has been banned.  Once again the OFLC is unable to classify the game under Australian legislation that tops out at a MA 15+ rating, so like Fallout 3 fans, Silent Hill: Homecoming aficionados must wait and see if developer Konami will believe it is worthwhile to make the requisite edits.

For a good game Spore is certainly getting peoples backs up.  Through a concerted effort, spurred on by anger directed at the DRM (Digital Rights Management) component, user reviews on Amazon.Com have driven Spores rating to one star out of five.

It could be a hoax, but the antispore blog has been up for a couple of days now, with all sorts of raves against the latest Maxis opus, Spore.  Who would have thought that a PG rated game could raise christian ire as much as a good session of Grand Theft Auto IV?
