The appearance of a zero day exploit for the critical VML (Vector Markup Language) vulnerability that has been found to affect not only Internet Explorer but also Office 2003 and Outlook HTML emails has prompted third party security professionals to develop immediate fixes. Microsoft, which expects its users to wait until October 10 for an official patch, is strangely petulant but it cannot afford to be.

Those who thought that Adobe might be in a spot of bother when a plethora of copy cats, including Microsoft and Open Office.org sprang up offering to save files as PDF (portable document format) documents may do well to think again. Adobe attempts to show in its Acrobat 8 product, document creation is more than just saving files in a defacto standard format.

 
Notebooks on planes ban sends message to manufacturers E-mail

In these days of heightened security, airline travellers already resent having to remove their notebook computers from their cases for inspection before boarding even though most concede it's necessary. However, not being able to use the notebook during flights goes beyond the pale.
