Microsoft COO Kevin Turner may vow not to let Google get a look in to its enterprise search business but that does not appear to be the way users see it. A new poll shows an overwhelming number believe that Google is now a serious threat to take over the corporate search business from Microsoft.

 
Dual-core Itanium 2 range makes debut E-mail

Chipmaker Intel Corporation today unveiled five new products in the Dual-Core Intel Itanium 2 Processor 9000 series. Previously codenamed “Montecito,” the new processors are designed for high-end computing platforms. According to Intel, the new processor range doubles the performance and lowers energy requirements, improving performance per watt by 2.5 times compared to existing, single-core versions.


 
Nuance claim 99 percent accurate speech recognition, without training E-mail

Nuance Communications claims that version 9 of its Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software for Windows will transform PC usage as "the first desktop speech recognition software that truly eliminates the need to train the software to a user's voice."
 
Apple iTunes movie rentals is the word E-mail

The word is out and about that Apple is getting set to announce an iTunes movie rentals store. According to rumour site Think Secret, Apple CEO Steve Jobs will use his keynote address of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference on August 7 to announce the movie rentals debut on iTunes.

Security firm McAfee did not have its finest hour last week. First it discovered that it had a flaw in a major corporate security software product. Then it discovered that it had accidentally fixed the flaw. Then it took six months to alert users to the fact.

 
HP puts 4M storage, 10M per sec wireless comms on rice grain E-mail

Microsoft closes private folders amid user outcry E-mail

"Keep your folders open!" the public cried, and Microsoft jumped to the command. After just one week, Microsoft has canned a new freeware release called Private Folder 1.0 after a public outcry. The free download would enable users to save their data to password protected data encrypted folders.
