Yahoo!7 launches answer to ninemsn E-mail

The new entity formed by Seven Network and Yahoo! Inc, to compete with ninemsn, has today been named Yahoo!7. A new name and corporate identity have been unveiled and the six person board has been appointed with John Marcom, senior vice president, international operations at Yahoo! Inc, announced as chairman.

Microsoft has excellent Q4 2005 E-mail

While its profit was down slightly on 2004, Microsoft reported solid results for the quarter to 31 December 2005, its fiscal Q2 2006, with a significant boost in revenues. Total revenues were US$11.8b, up 9.4% on the US$10.8b achieved in the previous corresponding quarter. Operating profit was US$4.66b, down 2% on the US$4.75b for nthe same quarter in 2004.

Canon Australia has signed Softlog, an Australian software developer for the corporate cost recovery market, as an independent developer of applications for Canon's Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP). The Java based platform allows Canon, its customers, integrators and developers to create software applications that fundamentally change the behaviour of multifunctional devices (MFDs) to suit the business needs of organisations.

Spam down in US and Australia, China spam explodes E-mail

According to the latest report from internet security provider Sophos, both Australia and the US have made significant  progress in reducing spam levels. However, the spam emanating from China has exploded upwards, with the world's most populous country now rivalling the US as the greatest source of unsolicited email.
