New CFO for Telecom New Zealand

Telecom New Zealand has name Russ Houlden as its chief financial officer, effective from 10 April 2008. He will be based in Auckland and will lead finance teams in New Zealand and Australia.

New President & CEO for SAP Australia & New Zealand

SAP has named Tim Ebbeck as its permanent president and chief executive officer for Australia and New Zealand, after he was appointed to the role in an acting capacity in mid January 2008. Mr Ebbeck joined SAP in 2003 as chief finance officer for ANZ and was part of the ANZ leadership team to end 2006.  In early 2007 he was appointed to the position of senior vice president and chief operating officer for Asia Pacific Japan (APJ). Prior to working for SAP, he held the position of group CFO in the Asia Pacific Region for TMP Worldwide.  He has also worked at Compaq Computer and Investment Vehicle, Unisys South Pacific Division, Tandem Computers and GEC ALSTHOM Australia Limited.

 
New MD for Lenovo ANZ

The Australia and New Zealand office of PC maker Lenovo has appointed 20 year PC industry veteran Phil Cameron as the new Managing Director, effective immediately. Cameron succeeds Alan Munro, who has relocated to an international role within Lenovo. Cameron was Corporate Sales Director for Lenovo Australia and New Zealand since the company’s acquisition of the IBM PC Division in May 2005. Prior to that, he was Channel Manager for IBM Personal Computing Division Australia/New Zealand. Cameron also worked for Toshiba for more than a decade as National Sales Manager, and in a range of other business and marketing roles.

In a rare display of public disunity, a major recruitment group has cast doubt upon the figures of another recruitment group which claims that jobs for the IT and Telecoms sector in Australia is on a downward spiral. Recruiter Best International says its latest research based on jobs board data indicates that IT&T jobs ads were sharply up for February, in stark contrast to the findings of rival recruiter Olivier Group.

 
Unisys to fill 100 entry level support roles for Canberra Defence contract

Unisys Australia intends to ramp up its staff numbers by 100 in Canberra to deliver on the new regional information communication technology (ICT) support services contract with the Australian Department of Defence which was announced in February. The $240 million five year contract is the biggest win that Unisys has ever had in the Asia Pacific region and promises to keep the preferred recruitment agency Candle busy.
