Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Andrew Butterworth as the managing director of its Australian operations. Previously Butterworth was vice president of Alcatel-Lucent’s Service Business Group in Australasia.

 
Solutions engineer jumps from Hitwise to WebTrends

IT&T jobs continue death spiral in November

The IT&T jobs market continued its free fall across Australia in November, with the two largest eastern states, NSW and Victoria suffering large reductions in the number of jobs on offer, according to a new report. The November figures add to what has been a dismal 2008 for IT&T on the employment front with an end to the decline still nowhere in sight.

A new national IT skills index developed by Clarius, the parent of ICT recruiter Candle, in conjunction with KPMG Econtech shows demand for skilled IT people outstripping supply by 9000 in the September quarter. However, ICT ranked only seventh of the skills surveyed. The most severe shortfall is for chefs.
