FTR Holdings Limited (ASX:FTR) has changed its name to WebCentral Group Limited. Effective today, the new ASX code for the company is ASX:WCG. The name change follows the passing of a resolution by shareholders at the company’s Annual General Meeting and signals the successful integration of the recently acquired WebCentral Pty Ltd. |

The news that ICT Minister, Senator Helen Coonan has endorsed the Australian Computer Society push to enforce professional standards is just so much hot air. Aside from anything else, Senator Coonan, by ruling out mandatory membership of the ACS, at least had the wisdom not to try anything ham fisted. |

Regional telco service provider S P Telemedia (ASX:SOT) is to acquire the assets and business of Comindico from the receivers, McGrath Nicol, for what it describes as a fraction of their original value. Comindico, which spent $400 million on establishing its network over four years, went into voluntary administration last month, after running out of cash. Peter Walker and Steve Sherman of Ferrier Hodgson, appointed as voluntary administrators of the group of companies, said at the time that Comindico could be sold off as a going concern. |
