Telstra director, John Fletcher, has announced his intention to retired on 30 June, a move which will leave the Telstra board with just six directors including CEO Sol Trujillo, unless new members are recruited. He has been a director since November 2000.

Alcatel and Oracle have announced their intent to develop and market a 'next-generation' convergent billing system for 'convergent charging and receivables' saying it will provide fixed and mobile operators with "a highly efficient architecture that simplifies operations, while enhancing the operator’s marketing capabilities and reactivity."

Telstra has told the government it will not roll out a large scale fibre to the node network unless it gets relief from regulation that would require it to provide access for other carriers at a regulated price, but at the same time it is talking up broadband as the foundation of its future.
