Intel, Cisco, Disney partner in VOD venture E-mail

The Walt Disney Company, Cisco Systems and Intel Corporation, through its investment arm Intel Capital, have invested US$48.5 million in MovieBeam, Inc, a newly formed datacasting entertainment venture.

 
ISYS chosen by QLD Govt for web PDF search E-mail

Search software vendor, ISYS Search Software, has won a deal with the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel, which has chosen ISYS:web 7 to provide advanced search and retrieval of Queensland legislation via its public website.

Vignette appoints new CEO E-mail

Content management system vendor, Vignette Corporation, has named Michael A. Aviles as the company’s new president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Aviles also will join Vignette’s board of directors. Aviles most recently served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Activant Solutions, Inc, an Austin-based provider of software and information services to the automotive aftermarket, hardware and lumber industries.  Prior to Activant, Aviles served as president and CEO of Foster Grant Group, a marketer and distributor of consumer eyewear.  He also held senior executive roles at FOOTACTION USA, an athletic specialty retailer. Aviles succeeds Thomas E. Hogan, who will leave the company on February 17, 2006, but will continue to serve on the Vignette board of directors.  Hogan will assume a new role as senior vice president of the software global business unit at Hewlett-Packard.
