Fujitsu takes all of Flag's $US1.5b sub cable rollout E-mail

Fujitsu has scored a massive $US1.5 billion contract from Flag Telecom to lay all 50,000kms of its global network expansion, plans for which were announced last December. Separately Fujitsu has won a capacity upgrade contract for A Pacific Crossing cable network.

The Southern Cross cable network, Australia's only direct link to the USA, is to have is installed capacity doubled its resiliency enhanced and its service flexibility increased in a move that ups the ante in the increasingly competitive market for the supply of international bandwidth.

 
Pipe Networks picks builder for submarine cable E-mail

Pipe Networks is yet to make a firm commitment to proceed with Project  Runway, its planned submarine cable linking Sydney To Guam, but it has announced that, if it goes ahead, Tyco Telecommunications will build it.

Queensland based broadband wireless operator Allegro Networks is to rollout a 'fixed' WiMAX network supplied by Israeli WiMAX equipment maker Alvarion,  the company chosen also by Opel, according to the Government.
