Nokia cellphones go touchy-feely with Immersion's VibeTonz E-mail

Nokia has licensed 'haptics' technology from Immersion Corporation that will enable it to incorporate a wide range of tactile feedback in it cellphones: for example specific vibrations associated with different ringtones and with different touch-screen-press commands.

The WiMAX Forum, the industry body that certifies WiMAX equipment for interoperability, has announced the opening of its first test lab in North America saying it hopes to have five around the world by the end of 2007.

WiMAX equipment maker, Soma Networks, is to integrate technology from ArrayComm, developer of the iBurst broadband wireless system, to enable Mobile WiMAX network operators "to benefit from the greatest possible cell range and coverage, increased spectral efficiencies and greater network capacity."

Juniper unveils new 1.6Tbps core router to counter Cisco CRS-1 E-mail

Juniper Networks has unveiled the T1600, a new core router for carrier networks that it hopes will give it  lead on archrival Cisco Systems. A key feature, and a departure from much current thinking on core network architectures, is that the T1600 will enable service policies and priorities to be applied in the core of the network rather than at the edge.
