U.S. scientists are working on specific “odor profiles” that detect skin cancers, which someday may produce a fast, non-invasive test for diagnosing cancer, similar to the medical tricorder device used in the science fiction TV series Star Trek.

A 2006 Web-conducted survey of students on seventy colleges and universities across the United States has shown that 15 out of 100 college students have seriously thought about suicide to solve their problems.

A U.S. research study has shown that adolescents who do not sleep enough and/or have poor quality sleep may be at increased risk for elevated blood pressure (what is called pre-hypertension) and, consequently, as adults may increase their risk of high blood pressure (hypertension) and other related medical problems.

A Stanford University study shows that runners have fewer disabilities and live longer than non-runners. Aerobic exercise (such as running, swimming, walking, and bicycling) was found to be very important at reducing disabilities as we age and minimizing the risk of death at an early age.

 
Greek researchers get to bottom of prostate cancer and physical activity E-mail

According to a University of Athens study, men who sit and work at desk jobs are much more likely to develop prostate cancer than men who stand and work at manual labor jobs.
