Chipmaker AMD has released its new quad-core Opteron server processor, claiming a significant performance edge over Intel. According to AMD, Under the newest SPECcpu2006 benchmarks, AMD dual-core Opteron processors beat Intel Xeon equivalent by up to 15%.
