Scientist reports that cosmic rays cause much of Earth’s global warming

Danish physicist Henrik Svensmark has concluded that the Earth is experiencing less cloud cover because cosmic rays are not entering the atmosphere as frequently as normal. Consequently, Svensmark says that cosmic rays, not human-made carbon dioxide emissions, are largely responsible for global warming.

Tectonic plates dramatically split apart land in northern Ethiopian desert

Geological scientists are studying the African and Arabian tectonic plates as two continental shelves tear land apart in northern Ethiopia. Normally, plate tectonics cause average movements of about 15 millimeters per year. However, over the last two years some land has spectacularly moved large distances—the largest one being eight meters (8,000 millimeters) overnight.
