IT services and outsourcing firm, Brennan IT and its telecommunications company, SecureTelecom, have appointed Geoffrey Dirago as general manager, client relationships, in a move that indicates a convergence customer outlook.

Telecorp Limited today announced the appointment of  Ian Adams as Group General Manager Sales & Customer Marketing for the fast growing, full service, telecommunications company. Adams, has worked in the ICT sales and marketing area since arriving in Australia from the UK in 1986. His management experience includes periods as corporate sales manager at AAPT, several  years at Optus managing strategic corporate accounts and Lexmark International  where he was General Manager Alliances Australia and NZ.

The directors of the board IT solutions company Alphawest (ASX:ALW) have unanimously accepted a bid by Singtel Optus to buy the company for more than $24 million.

The Senate has passed the legislation authorising the full sale and operational separation of Telstra after Nationals senator Barnaby Joyce voted with the Government. The Government used its numbers to guillotine and gag debate, provoking outrage from the opposition parties.

Privately held telco, Arrow Voice & Data, has appointed James T Dominguez as chairman of the board. Formerly founder and chairman of Dominguez Barry Samuel Montagu, and later SBC Dominguez Barry investment bank — now UBS Australia — Dominguez has considerable experience at board level. He holds advisory roles for a number of technology companies, including Cisco Systems Australia and Fuji Xerox. Dominguez also serves as non-executive director of a number of companies including ETrade Australia, Nestle Australia, O'Connell Street Associates, Tat Hong (Singapore) and WESBEAM Holdings.

Whatever we make think about the current management of Telstra, the recent behaviour of trios amigos, and the politics of the extraordinary farce that is now taking place in the public arena, one thing is clear. Over the past five years, at least, Telstra has been one of the most poorly managed large public companies in Australia and that's not Sol Trujillo's fault.
