Business Intelligence software provider SAS Institute Australia has promoted Des Viranna to Solutions Manager, Customer Intelligence. He is based at the company’s regional head office in Sydney. Viranna studied Engineering at the University of New South Wales and joined SAS in 1999 through its Graduate Program. His most recent SAS position was that of Lead Consultant, Customer Intelligence for Australia and New Zealand.

Service provider Unisys West has appointed Brian Lee as WA Public Sector Partner, further strengthening its commitment to the Public Sector in Western Australia. Mr Lee joins Unisys West with a wealth of government experience within Western Australia, particularly in the delivery of commercial services. He comes to Unisys West from Western Power, where he held the role of Chief Information Officer for two years and spearheaded the transition of IT services to four separate companies – Western Power, Synergy, Verve and Horizon Power.  He also brings an impressive track record in major change management programs, including with government clients.  As a partner with KPMG Consulting in Perth, he implemented a substantial change program for the Government Employees Superannuation Board (GESB), the largest Western Australia-based superannuation fund, and he previously managed large change programs for BankWest, HBOSA and WMC Resources.  He serves on the Health Department Audit Committee and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Unified storage solutions provider, Network Appliance, has appointed Peter O'Connor as managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
O'Connor has 20 years experience in the IT industry with organisations including Macromedia (now Adobe), i2 Technologies, System Software Associates and IBM. Prior to joining NetApp, O'Connor held the role of vice president Asia Pacific for Macromedia Inc. O'Connor's other roles have included regional vice president South Asia for i2 Technologies, general manager South Asia for SSA and various senior sales and marketing positions for IBM in Australia and China. O'Connor replaces Simon Green, who was previous managing director for NetApp, Australia and New Zealand. Green has been promoted to Vice President Go-to-Market Strategy Network Appliance.

Network management provider, Exinda Networks, has appointed Michael Grace as vice president of international business development.  Grace will be responsible for growing Exinda’s global marketing and sales programs and distribution channel throughout Europe, as well as expanding strategic relationships. Grace has 25 years of experience in the information technology (IT) and telecommunications industry. While at Network Box Australia, a managed network security services company, he established its national sales and channel model and reseller marketing program.  Prior to that, he was the founding regional director of Fortinet in Europe. He was also regional director for Netscreen in Australia and New Zealand and spent three years as regional manager and regional vice president for WatchGuard in Europe.
