Sterling Commerce has appointed Brenton Dodd as client executive. Dodd will be responsible for business development and increasing awareness of Sterling’s multi-channel retail solution offering. Dodd has been involved in supply chain operations since 1980. He spent seven years at Caterpillar working within its local and international supply chain, inventory control and warehousing operations. In the late eighties Dodd worked for Intertrack, developers of the Pulse system and pioneers of radio frequency warehouse management systems technology in the Australian market. Prior to his tenure with Sterling Commerce, Dodd spent five years at IBM as a sales solutions consultant, where he provided customer solutions involving technology from IBM and its business partners. Previously, he was at Dawson Consulting as a supply chain solutions specialist. Dodd is based in Melbourne and reports to Michael Vulcan.

Kerr first joined CA in 2005 in the role of national channel sales manager. Information Technologies Australia (iTa), a specialist in voice integration solutions, has appointed former IT executive Carmel Gray, as Chair of the board with immediate effect. From 1999 to 2004 Gray held the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Suncorp. Before this Gray worked as General Manager of the Victorian gas industry’s IT business, preparing it for privatisation. However, Gray’s longest career stint was with Logica for over 10 years, where she held several positions culminating in the managing director role from 1992 until 1997.

The ACS (Australian Computer Society) today released the results of its annual Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Employment Survey for 2006. The results indicate a positive employment outlook for ICT professionals, with ICT unemployment at its lowest level in many years at 5.1% - now only 0.3 percentage points higher than the ABS national average (4.8%).
