Internet Security Systems expands business development team

Internet Security Systems Australasia (ISS) has expanded its presence within Australia with the appointment of two new business development executives and a senior security consultant. Cameron Tubb as Business Development Manager and Ian Gilchrist have been appointed Senior Security Consultants. Tubb brings 10 years IT industry experience to his role. Prior to joining ISS, Tubb worked for Trend Micro as a National Government Major Accounts Manager. He also worked for Citect as a National Account Manager. Ian Gilchrist has joined ISS as a Senior Security Consultant based in Melbourne. Gilchrist brings 15 years of IT industry experience to his role, including five years as a security specialist. Prior to joining ISS, Gilchrist held national senior engineering roles at TippingPoint and 3COM respectively. ISS has also appointed Luke Healey as Business Development Manager for the New South Wales (NSW) region. Prior to joining ISS, Healey held key public sector account management roles with both Juniper Networks and Cisco Systems.



Websense makes three new appointments

Web security specialist, Websense, has made three appointments in Australia. All three new recruits report to Joel Camissar, country manager for Websense, Australia & New Zealand. Gareth Davies has flown in from Websense’s UK office to take up the role of territory manager for Websense in WA and New Zealand, based in Sydney, after five years with the company in various sales and business development roles. Steven Gross has been appointed systems engineer, Northern Region. He brings a decade of technical experience to Websense having spent the last six years at Citrix Systems as senior systems engineer, and previously worked for systems integrator, BCA-IT, as a post-sales systems engineer. Thomas Lavery has been appointed territory manager, Northern Region. Lavery’s IT career spans nine years in both the UK and Australia.  Previously, he was a corporate account manager for Compaq, and since moving to Australia he has worked as an account executive at two major resellers locally: Software Spectrum and Data#3.



Sterling Commerce appoints new marketing head for ANZ

AT&T e-commerce subsidiary Sterling Commerce has appointed Julie Christie as Head of Marketing, Australia and New Zealand, based in Melbourne. Christie joins Sterling Commerce with over 20 years of marketing and sales experience gained from within IT vendors and IT publishing companies both in Australia and the US. Previously, she was Marketing Director for Sybase covering the A/NZ region and based in Sydney. Christie has also held various marketing positions at enterprise software companies in the US, including enterprise systems management vendor, Candle Corporation, where she was Marketing Communications Specialist and Worldwide Media Planner; at CRM middleware vendor, Delano Technology, as Regional Marketing Manager, Western U.S.; and sales roles in the IT publishing market including: International Data Group’s (IDG) Network World as district sales manager and McGraw Hill’s Datacommunications Magazine & Tele.com Magazine as Regional Sales Manager.

Vanco appoints new CEO for APAC

Virtual network operator Vanco has appointed Diarmid Massey as new CEO Vanco Asia-Pacific. He will be responsible for all of Vanco’s Asia-Pacific markets. Diarmid will be based in Tokyo. Both, the Singapore general manager, Hong Meng Lee, and Grant Ellison, general manager Australia will report to Diarmid. Originally from the UK, Diarmid has been based in a number of countries within the Asia Pacifc region over the past 20 years. His recent senior management roles included NexTone, a specialist VoIP solutions provider, and wholesale carrier ITXC, which was acquired by India's leading telecom provider, VSNL.



Trend Micro appoints ANZ enterprise sales director

Security specialist Trend Micro has appointed Michael May as Enterprise Sales Director for Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining Trend Micro, May held senior sales and management positions with Sun Microsystems, where he has worked since 1996. Most recently he held the position of Partner Sales Director responsible for hardware, software and service revenues for Sun Microsystems across Australia and New Zealand.



EDS appoints new director for state government services

Karl Grant has been appointed executive director responsible for the management of EDS services to state governments in Australia. He has been EDS director of operations for state government services since March 2005, and retains this position in his new executive role. His experience in the IT industry spans more than 20 years and he has risen quickly through the managerial ranks since joining EDS in Ireland as a systems engineer in 1995. He held various leadership roles involving key EDS clients such as General Motors and the UK and Irish Governments. Mr Grant succeeds Fraser Nicholson who has been appointed to a new executive leadership position with EDS in London.



VeCommerce appoints global marketing manager

Interactive voice response systems provider VeCommerce has appointed contact centre marketing specialist, Martyn Riddle, as global marketing manager based in Sydney. Riddle joins VeCommerce with ten years’ experience in the contact centre and help desk technology industries and will be responsible for managing corporate, partner and alliance marketing and working closely with the company’s offices throughout Australia, New Zealand, the US and UK in the expansion and implementation of market development and communication programs. Most recently, Riddle was a marketing consultant at contact centre solution specialist, Aspect Software. Previously, Riddle established the Asia Pacific marketing operations of FrontRange Solutions, a CRM application and service management specialist company.  Prior to that, he was director of European Marketing for FrontRange Solutions based in the UK. Riddle has also worked as Market Development Manager for the INS Group, an international hi-tech business development consultancy assisting US start-up organisations establish their operations in Europe.



Sterling Commerce appoints APAC strategic alliances director

Formerly marketing and alliances manager at Sterling Commerce, Matthews has more than 12 years’ experience in the IT industry and was most recently responsible for driving Sterling Commerce’s alliance partner program with IBM Australia and delivering on lead generation programs in the retail, wholesale and distribution sectors. Prior to joining Sterling Commerce in 2005, Matthews established and managed her own marketing and events management company. Previously, she was Asia Pacific Marketing Manager for Vignette Corporation. Prior to that, she was Vignette’s Manager of Asia Pacific Alliances (Channel) Marketing. Matthews originally joined Vignette from Hewlett Packard where she held a number of roles.

Nuance appoints ANZ channels manager

Rigg is responsible for Nuance’s value added resellers (VARs) and its distribution partners – including Fuji Xerox DSD, Mindscape, Scholastic and Mistral Software. Prior to joining Nuance, Rigg was National Retail Sales Manager ANZ for Targus Australia for four years. She was responsible for retail accounts including Harvey Norman, Officeworks, Dick Smith and Ingram Micro ANZ. Palm appoints new country manager for ANZ

Rozay joined Palm’s Australasian operations in 2005 as wireless business development director for Australia and New Zealand and has more than 10 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to Palm, Rozay held various positions in international business development at Palm and Handspring in the United States. He also has held positions at Alcatel in France and China, Globalstar in the United States and Brazil, and served in the Microelectronics R&D Centre for Toshiba in Japan.
