German and Czech researchers studied satellites images of thousands of cows and deer around the world and found most of them graze and rest in a north-south position. Seismometers in Japan recorded ground-motion waves from a 2006 earthquake in southeastern Africa. A British geophysics team analyzed the resulting data and found “faint yet direct” evidence that the Earth’s inner core structure is solid--something scientists believe but find difficult to directly prove.
