The U.S. military has developed a non-lethal weapons technology that uses directed-energy to cause pain on the skin of victims. The weapon, called Active Denial System (ADS), is designed to stop and repel enemy forces from a long distance away without causing injury. On January 24, 2007, a fully operational ADS was demonstrated at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.
