YouTube and MGM in movie and TV show deal

There’s no official word on YouTube’s official blog yet, but the news has come through that MGM will show full-length movies and TV shows in partnership with YouTube and in competition with TV network owned by News Corp and NBC Universal. MGM will display ads “alongside” the video to monetise its content.

Looks like it's now going to be OK to upload video clips to your favourite video sharing sites despite billion dollar lawsuits to stop it from happening, with a new video fingerprint system from Auditude that identifies clips even with only a few seconds of video, bringing the possibility of monetization from public video uploads – at last!

Your YouTube viewing history is safe from the prying eyes of Viacom and the other companies suing Google, at least for now. Despite a recent court order backing a Viacom demand for YouTube to hand over complete user viewing history records, Viacom and its confederates have partially backed off.
