Telstra takes aim at Google with enhanced BigPond mobile search
By: Alex Zaharov-Reutt

Google has made massive strides in working to dominate search from mobile phones as much as it does search from desktop computers, but they’re not the only ones. For BigPond read Big Brother (Orwell's not Endemol's)
By: Stuart Corner

BigPond head honcho Justin Milne has delivered the most convincing picture I have yet seen of Telstra's media comms abilities and ambitions and it reinforces what I have been saying for years: Telstra is uniquely positioned because it is such a powerful player in so many overlapping, and converging, technologies, services and markets.

Sensis sinks slipper into eBay after ACCC notice
By: Stan Beer

Sensis, the directories arm of Telstra, has launched a stinging public attack on eBay just one day after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) put a damper on eBay Australia's plans to enforce a PayPal only policy for transactions on its website. Having stayed silent on the eBay issue until now, Sensis which has launched its rival Trading Post site, has pulled no punches, describing the eBay action as anti-competitive.

Telstra Trading Post in uphill battle against eBay: Ovum
By: Stan Beer

The newly announced Trading Post auction site launched by Telstra's directories arm Sensis will be hard pressed to threaten eBay Australia's dominance, according to telecoms research group Ovum. Analyst Steve Hodgkinson believes eBay's first mover e-commerce advantage in Australia will probably be too much to overcome unlike the case in New Zealand but eBay could still be under threat from its own overconfidence.

Has Telstra accidentally confirmed it’s getting the iPhone?
By: Alex Zaharov-Reutt

Australia’s dominant telco, Telstra, has had its Yellow Pages and mapping division, Sensis, place an online job application looking for a business analyst to help it develop a “cutting-edge search application for the iPhone”. Has Telstra been sprung, and if so, will Apple be happy about it?
