Xobni outs Outlook inadequacies

I still begrudgingly use Vista, even after making the mistake of retrograding my system to the monumental stuff-up called SP1. I still use Word and Excel 2007, although there are free alternatives that tempt me. However, I dropped Outlook months ago because it's an unacceptable resources drain. Can a new plug-in called Xobni change my mind?

Google delivers on SaaS features promise

One of the benefits claimed for Software as a Service is that new features automagically appear without you having to install updates. An associated issue is that developers can incrementally roll out these new features instead of going for the big bang of a new release. That's certainly the path Google is taking.

Google Gears up for offline docs, why not Gmail and Calendar?

This is all very interesting. Google Gears now enables users to take Google Docs documents out of the cloud and save them locally for later offline use and we're promised Spreadsheets are next. That's great but hello Google what are your two most widely used cloud applications right now and why have they been ignored!
