All the brouhaha about Blu-ray needing to watch out because researchers have created a disc that can store 1.6TB of data today (and 10TB to come) is a bit of a load of bollocks, with the technology up to a decade away from commercialisation and even 10TB due to look teensy-weensy by then.

Claiming that the Melbourne Herald Sun newspaper had misled Australians in a report on Monday that claimed millions of plasma and LCD televisions would become obsolete from 1 May, 2009 due to changes in the way broadcasters transmit,  a seething free-to-air TV broadcasters' body Freeview has issued a statement to sooth the frayed nerves of consumers.

Although there’s no official notification on YouTube’s blog as yet, the option to watch videos in much higher quality “HD” mode has now launched, replacing the previous option to watch in “high quality”, with the “watch in normal quality” option still available for those on slower networks or lower download limits.
