Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

Mavim Selected for Australian-Developed ITIL Solution

Sydney, 5 February, 2007 – Mavim, a leading provider of business process management software, today announced it has been selected by INTRINSIC IT to support its CUBE-it service management platform.

Designed to provide organisations with a set of ready developed, easy-to-use content for managing the corporate IT environment, CUBE-it delivers online pre-defined processes, procedures, templates, roles and KPIs relating to key Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes.

Mavim’s business process platform was chosen due to its ability to effectively map all the information supporting the effective capture, design, maintenance and communication of processes, rules, policies, and procedures that an individual needs to perform their role

“This partnership will allow organisations who implement CUBE-it to not only benefit from greater IT governance in a timelier manner, but also minimise system down-time through a greater emphasis on visibility in the process chain. Being able to quickly and easily identify the key steps in the process and who is responsible for them, will add value across every department reliant on IT,” said Florian Hoornaar, Managing Director at Mavim.

All information relating to ITIL processes can be accessed through
CUBE-it’s knowledge base, including how to handle password resets and system outages, as well as prevention of business downtime and the measurement of service availability levels.

“ITIL-aligned documentation is essential for managing business critical IT infrastructure within an organisation, yet many companies spend a great deal of time developing ITIL process documentation by attempting to rewrite best practises for service support and delivery for no sustainable result,” said Melissa McLachlan, Consulting and Education Director at INTRINSIC IT, and one of only a handful of ISO20000 certification assessors in Australia.

“CUBE-it aims to fill the gap in practical understanding of the
inter-relationship between business processes by providing users with a number of templates containing content examples,” said McLachlan.

“Being pre-populated and customisable, CUBE-it significantly reduces the time an organisation spends writing processes, providing more time to focus on the actual implementation.

“While business processes uniquely define every organisation, there will always be points of commonality and ITIL proves this. With CUBE-it, we aim to provide up to 80 per cent of the processes and procedures common to organisations, enabling fast implementation. This leaves only importing organisation-specific information and the fine tuning of the processes relevant to the IT department’s requirements,” she added.

Earlier this year, Mavim was chosen by Unilever and Moree Plains Shire council, to manage internal processes governing IT operations and for OH&S compliance and risk mitigation respectively.
