Since being introduced into Australia in 2004 Siemens now has an estimated 30+% share of this growing market and customers now include Telstra, Sing Tel Optus, Elders, Orcon, Transact, Amcom, Telarus and Southern Cross Telecommunications.
Executive Director Siemens Communications, Paul Lazarou, said the milestone was an outstanding success for the reliable Speedstream ADSL modem. “The introduction of the Siemens Speedstream modem for the rapidly expanding broadband network gives Siemens a significant role in providing a stable and reliable national broadband service,” said Mr Lazarou.
“We see our role as using our global knowledge, expertise and resources to support our customers in making their broadband networks operate at optimum levels of speed, efficiency and reliability.
“It is also pleasing to see the Siemens Speedstream wired and wireless products playing a role in the ongoing expansion of Australia’s broadband infrastructure,” said Mr Lazarou.
The Speedstream DSL modem and gateway models 4200 (wired), 6520 and SE568 (wireless) work with any ethernet equipped personal computer regardless of operating system and supports ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+ as well as VDSL and VDSL2+ technology.
The Siemens Speedstream 4200 broadband modem delivers high-speed internet across existing copper wire telecommunications networks at speeds approaching six megabits per second. With ADSL2+ we can reach up to 20Mb/s, as we do with AMCOM.
As a global leader in DSL CPE, Siemens research and development for these Speedstream modems was undertaken in the USA, Germany and Belgium. Major partners include AT&T, Bell Canada, Frontier and Deutsche Telecom.
