Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Visitors to the eGames & Entertainment Expo (EGE) will have the chance to make a difference to thousands of Australian families by competing in a PC ‘build off’ competition and auction. The eGames & Entertainment Expo, which will be staged at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, November 17 – 19, 2006, is supporting the Bonnie Babes Foundation, with expo organisers hoping to raise money to help fund the foundation’s programs.
“The Bonnie Babes Foundation is a very important and worthwhile cause and we are very pleased that our event will be able to help raise much needed funds to assist the charity. When you think that one in four Australian pregnancies result in loss, it’s easy to see why the work of the Bonne Babes Foundation is so important for our society,” commented Noel Gray, Managing Director, Australasian Exhibitions and Events. The EGE ‘PC Build Off’ will involve some of Australia’s best (case) modders and selected members of the audience competing to see who can build a PC the fastest - from scratch - using state-of-the-art parts, including Intel’s new Core2Duo processor.
Judged by the Editor of Atomic magazine, Logan Booker, the winner will be awarded the PC they built as their prize. Four of the ‘custom built’ PCs will then be auctioned off, with all proceeds given to The Bonnie Babes Foundation. A number of other items will also be auctioned off to help raise additional funds for the foundation. “We are very pleased that the eGames & Entertainment Expo has found such a different way in which to help raise funds for our foundation,” commented Debbie Chalmers, Counsellor, Bonnie Babes Foundation. “The gaming industry is an enormous industry that touches such a wide cross section of our community, so we are thrilled that this important industry event has come on board to help our foundation, which also touches such an enormous section of our community,” she added. The Bonnie Babes Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which provides group, individual and telephone counselling and raises funds to assist vital medical research projects which aim to reduce the statistics of one in four pregnancies resulting in a loss. The majority of exhibitors at the eGames & Entertainment will use the expo as the launching pad for new products, which means that visitors to the expo will be among the first to see, try and buy some of the latest gaming products to hit the Australian market. Exhibitors include Nintendo, who will showcase their new Wii console three weeks before launch to the Australian market, Sony Computer Entertainment, Auran Games, Madman Entertainment, LG, Microsoft, Scorpion Technology…and many, many more.
eGames & Entertainment Expo will be officially opened by The Honorable Marsha Thomson, Victorian Minister for Information and Communication Technology at 2.15pm on Friday 17 November.
Keynote addresses will be given by Rosemary Lappin, National Sales and Marketing Manager for Nintendo Australia and Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia & New Zealand. EGE Gold Sponsor, Intel will also give a presentation on the main stage which will focus on their Core 2 Duo platform. An industry panel will be staged on each day of the show, giving visitors the opportunity to hear the latest in gaming and entertainment news, views and insights from a host of industry experts and personalities. Visitors to the expo will also have the chance to go into a draw to win a Nintendo Wii – when they are available for delivery in early December – and other fabulous door prizes. The latest and greatest in home and personal entertainment and the ‘coolest’ in gaming and gadgetry will be on display, with visitors to EGE also able to buy a wide range of products, taking advantage of the many ‘show specials’ that will be on offer. EGE will also be a strong focus on careers with Ballarat University, Swinburne University, Monash University, Deakin University and QANTM College and the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) all participating in the show to provide guidance and advice as to how to pursue a career in the rapidly growing and always exciting gaming industry.
