VeriSign Appoints New Federal Government Director in Canberra

VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN) has appointed Jamie Norton as VeriSign's new Account Director for Federal Government in Australia. Norton will be responsible for growing VeriSign’s consulting business and presence in Government and the ACT market.

Norton has been with VeriSign since 2002 working initially in pre-sales and more recently consulting services. This new role will draw on his strong client relationships across key Federal Government agencies including Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources, Australian Taxation Office and Australian Customs Service.

Ed Elliff, VeriSign’s Australian Region Executive and Sales Director commented: "Jamie’s extensive experience in the IT industry in Australia , Asia and Europe is a great asset to VeriSign in Australia and this new position will see him playing a fundamental role in building the company’s reputation to deliver targeted and secure solutions to protect a myriad of organisations."

Prior to joining VeriSign, Norton worked as a Consultant for ActivIdentity, the Australian Intelligence Community and the Education sector.  He spent 12 months as an executive security advisor to the World Health Organisation in Geneva and developed the WHO Global Security Program.  He also led development in risk management for infrastructure associated with the Asian Tsunami, Avian Flu and Hurricane Katrina.
