A number of Australian employees of Hewlett-Packard are facing the loss of their jobs as the global computer giant looks to slash its worldwide workforce by up to 30,000.
IDS Scheer, the leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM), today announced that it has launched a direct sales operation in Australia citing robust market opportunities for its ARIS BPM software in the local market. The expansion into Australia grows IDS Scheer’s footprint in the Asia Pacific region where the company already has sales and consulting operations in Singapore, China and Japan and partners with organisations in Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and India.
IDS Scheer has more than 6,000 customers in over 70 countries. The organisation’s ARIS platform, the world’s leading software solution for BPM, helps companies optimise their investments in strategic business and technology initiatives, including BPM, Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), and Enterprise Architecture initiatives, for applications include CRM, supply chain management, strategic enterprise management or human capital management.
Last October, Forrester Group named IDS Scheer a market leader in Business Process Modeling tools citing the organisation’s strategic partnerships with SAP, Oracle and Microsoft, and the strength of its products as key differentiators. IDS Scheer customers include Bayer, BASF, Electrolux, Ericsson, IBM, Nestle, Pfizer, Shell, UBS, and Vodafone while its partners include BMC Software, Fujitsu, HP, Oracle, SAP, and Software AG.
In addition to a sales partnership with Oracle launched in mid-2006, earlier this year IDS Scheer announced that Microsoft had selected the company as its preferred partner for BPM modeling and monitoring. In Q1 2007, revenue at the IDS Scheer Group rose to €96.0 million outperforming the figure for the previous year (previous year - Q1/2006: €85.0 million) by 13 per cent.
Darren Covington Appointed Managing Director, Pacific Region At the same time, the company has announced the appointment of Darren Covington as Managing Director, Pacific Region, based in Sydney. Covington is charged with overall responsibility for sales and market development for IDS Scheer’s ARIS business process modelling suite among both large and mid-sized businesses.
Covington joins IDS Scheer with more than ten years’ experience in the IT industry and was formerly Vice President Asia Pacific for E2E Technologies, a Swiss-headquartered company offering software for fully Model Driven Integration. Covington launched E2E in the region in 2005 and drove the organisation’s sales, marketing and services profile and developed strategic relationships with organisations, including Leonardo Consulting, Supply Chain Consulting and SAP.
Previously, Covington held a variety of positions with high performance computing company, SGI, including Vice President – Channels and Strategic Technology, Director of Enterprise Sales, New South Wales Sales Manager and Northern Region Channel Manager. During his six years with the organisation, Covington developed a global indirect go to market sales model, closed alliance agreements with the world’s leading global consulting firms, developed new markets for SGI’s Linux-based servers and storage solutions, drove long-term customer business relationships and identified new sales partner prospects for the desktop and server business.
Prior to joining SGI, Covington worked with IBM Australia as an Australia/New Zealand client executive. He has also worked for Volante Group as business development manager and been a senior account manager for Dell Computer. He has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Wollongong University.
