Wine company, McWilliams Wines, has moved its disaster recovery solution from a labour intensive, infrastructure reliant set-up to a flexible integrated cloud solution easily managed off-site, following the company's successful deployment of a disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) solution from IT services company, Indicium.
McWilliams Wines IT Manager, Russell Ferrao, says the company selected Indicium to create a viable and effective alternative to in-house disaster recovery, with the challenge to keep costs under control 'while improving the levels of business continuity and disaster recovery capability and readiness. ' 'We approached Indicium for an effective disaster recovery solution. We got so much more than that: a flexible, custom-made solution that caters for our specific requirements while reducing labour and infrastructure costs.'
Ferrao said that, in the age where information is generated every second, businesses faced the challenge of updating data as close to real time as possible. 'Indicium's innovative solution included the latest replication and optimisation technologies to achieve a recovery point objective acceptable to our needs at a lower cost than the in-house infrastructure solution we had originally planned, and is lower cost than even our present out-sourced solution.'
According to Indicium's client solutions director, Manish Goklaney, McWilliams got the 'best of both worlds - a flexible purpose built DR solution and also one that caters for their specific requirements without having to maintain the capital intensive infrastructure on premise to suffice the DR and BCP requirement.'
