Content delivery specialist Akamai has acquired Blaze Software, which has technology to optimise web page rendering.
Akamai has now expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Canada-based Blaze Software, which has technology to optimise page rendering regardless of the device being used.
Blaze's cloud-based technology essentially rewrites the code and other content on a web page to suit the destination device, speeding delivery and reducing rendering times.
Akamai intends to incorporate this technology into its existing CDN.
"As businesses provide rich, interactive web experiences online and across devices, it is vital that end users receive a consistently high-performing site," said Rick McConnell, Akamai's executive vice president of products and development.
"We believe Blaze has developed a powerful solution for front-end optimisation, and that its cloud-based services approach is synergistic with Akamai's offerings. The team at Blaze will be an important addition to our focus on site acceleration. Our goal continues to be providing customers with the most comprehensive set of technologies to optimise all aspects of their site performance."
