TestPro selects IBM smart cloud solution

Software testing services company, TestPro, has selected IBM's smartcloud enterprise solution to increase the flexibility and timeliness of its IT service delivery.

The IBM offering will be used by TestPro for on-demand provision of servers and software, including IBM rational software.

TestPro managing director, Scott Marchant, said the IBM smartcloud enterprise will allow the company to improve the speed, efficiency and value delivery of its existing cloud-based testing services, making software delivery faster and simpler for its clients.

'Through the use of the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise environment we are able to deliver our clients a total software package rather than using a series of disparate individual services. The IBM Smart Cloud Enterprise allows us to host and manage client software as a service, which means our clients have access to their applications without the hassle and cost of additional infrastructure maintenance.'

The IBM smartcloud enterprise is an agile cloud computing infrastructure as a service (IaaS) designed to provide rapid access to secure, enterprise-class virtual server environments suited for development and test activities and dynamic workloads, and Marchant said TestPro would host and manage its Software-as-a-Service offerings through the IBM smartcloud enterprise's cloud, to improve response time and access to large-scale test automation for its clients, resulting in faster time to market for new applications.

According to Marchant, TestPro sought to cut back on the capital and operating costs of its provisioned IT infrastructure environments, which had grown to pose a significant challenge for the day-to-day financing and management of the business. By adopting the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise solution, TestPro is able to reduce the number of physical servers and testing machines required for its services while providing clients with a clearer picture of when testing environments would be online. The new solution also allows for faster response time to operational contingencies, as the firm is now able to build servers in 20 minutes, greatly improving its scaling capacity to meet the user-volume needs of larger clients.

'The IBM SmartCloud Enterprise solution has enabled us to lower our operational costs while at the same time being able to scale our server numbers to address changing requirements over the duration of projects,' said Yolande Palmer, product director at TestPro. 'The increased scalability allows us to provide testing solutions which can more accurately reflect client needs over time, and also gives us the option to rapidly scale up or down our overall operations depending on the situation at hand.'

IBM cloud computing executive, Dean Evans, said TestPro was a longstanding and valued partner of IBM, and IBM's aim was to provide a 'streamlined yet comprehensive solution which would place the company in good stead for continued success.' 'By helping TestPro take full advantage of what the cloud has to offer, IBM has enabled the company with increased flexibility and scalability that will be of benefit both now and in the longer term.'
