Telstra picks Zenoss to manage its cloud offerings

Telstra has selected technology from US-based Zenoss to provide end-to-end monitoring, service impact management and predictive analytics for its infrastructure-as-a-service cloud platform.

In June 2011 Telstra unveiled plans to spend more than $800 million on expanding its cloud computing services and, according to Zenoss, "part of this investment includes the advanced monitoring and management of the cloud platform. After extensive review and testing of multiple management solutions, Telstra selected Zenoss based on their ability to provide the service assurance necessary to model, manage, and monitor the infrastructure."

"Telstra offers its enterprise and government customers a fully managed cloud service and being able to proactively monitor and manage the infrastructure platform is important in providing the highest levels of service for organisations using our cloud," Kevin Kennedy, director, applications, Telstra Operations said. "Zenoss provides Telstra with a solution that meets all of the business and technical requirements needed to monitor our infrastructure cloud platform."

Zenoss was founded in 2005 to address the challenges of operating and assuring large-scale IT services. The company says that, as enterprises and service providers drive aggressively towards the 'IT-as-a-Service' model, the need for a new class of IT operations solution has become an urgent and obvious need.

"The key principles that drove our initial offerings are even more relevant today as organisations drive towards the vision of automated operations and hybrid cloud infrastructure."

The company says its technology has been deployed in over 35,000 organisations in over 180 countries. Clients include VMware, Deutsche Bank, LinkedIn, Rackspace, the US Army, US Air Force and US Marines.
