SafeNet spreads SSO to SaaS

SafeNet's SafeWord 2008 now extends single sign-on to cloud applications such as Google Apps.

 

Single sign-on (SSO) makes people's working life a lot simpler. Instead of having to log in to each enterprise system separately, they sign in once and then their credentials are passed securely to each system as required.

 

That's relatively commonplace with internal systems, but what happens when the job requires the use of a cloud-based service such as Salesforce.com? SafeNet has extended its SafeWord 2008 authentication platform to provide identity federation and SSO capabilities to SaaS applications such as Google Apps and Salesforce.com.

In addition to simplifying things for users, SafeNet officials said that the addition of this capability to SafeWord 2008 meant administrators no longer need to manage several sets of entitlements or credentials for disparate systems and applications, which makes it easier to demonstrate compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
