Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Nokia has expanded the device management functions of its Intellisync push-email technology to enable the management of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync settings on Nokia ESeries devices - the E50, E60, E61, E62 and E70 all of which are based on Nokia's S60 device platform 3rd edition and Symbian - and to devices based on Windows Mobile 5.0, such as Palm Treo 700W and Motorola Q.
The Intellisync Device Management solution enables an IT administrator to centrally configure and manage mobile email, calendar and contact settings on these devices over the air taking the burden of manually configuring each device with the correct Exchange Server settings off employees and the IT help-desk. "This new capability will be an essential tool in large scale enterprise Exchange ActiveSync email deployments," Nokia predicts.
Exchange ActiveSync is a Microsoft protocol for wireless push email and calendar/contacts synchronisation between mobile devices and Microsoft Exchange server. The Nokia implementation of the Microsoft ExchangeActiveSync protocol is through a device client called 'Mail for Exchange,' developed for Nokia ESeries mobile devices. The Exchange ActiveSync settings management for Windows Mobile 5.0 powered devices uses the Intellisync Mobile Suite client. The Mail for Exchange solution enables the wireless synchronisation of email, calendar and contact data from compatible Microsoft Exchange servers.
According to Nokia, "Intellisync Device Management can be used for managing a company's business devices from the moment they are deployed until the end of their life cycle. The solution manages configurations and settings, application distribution, installation, upgrade and uninstallation as well as maintains security policies. Furthermore, a lost or misplaced device can be locked or wiped remotely."
Intellisync Device Management is available either as part of an in-house corporate IT solution or as a hosted service from a service provider or a mobile operator.
