Business IT - Technology

Linksys and Yahoo! have introduced a  DECT cordless phone that can be used with a standard phone line or to make VoIP calls over  Yahoo! Messenger with Voice, via a USB connection into a PC.

It mimics similar devices from other vendors such as Philips designed for use with the PSTN and Skype and PSTN and Microsoft's Windows Live.

The Linksys CIT310 also enable users to access Yahoo! Local Search from the handset. "By programming the phone with a local zip code, people are able to search for a local restaurant (or any other local business) and effortlessly call the restaurant with one click," Yahoo! says. People also have access to weather forecasts through a weather search setting. The phone has gone on sale in the US for $US99.99.
