Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Symbio, which provides the VoIP platform underpinning a number of offerings in the Australian market, says the platform will provide Telstra network independence for Australian VoIP service providers. It claims to have more than 100,000 SIP end-points accessible and says engin, its own affiliate, MyNetFone, and ISPhone with others expected to sign on in the near future.
According to Symbio Networks' director, Rene Sugo, “Large scale VoIP peering is complex and setting up the Symbio platform is the result of many man-hours of development by a highly skilled team of professionals. It has been necessary to overcome challenges in areas such as protocol compatibility, provisioning, numbering, security, quality, privacy and billing and settlement,”
Symbio says it will provide the peering connection free and charge three cents per answered call. The company also offers high end transit and other VoIP services from the same location.
Pipe Networks announced its VoIP peering service in August in trial mode with several un-named participants. It said the service would be launched commercially in late October.
